Desktop app universal quick add / capture

Hi Tobias, any updates on this for Windows? It would be great to have it implemented.

Our own custom quick add solution is definitely something we’d like to add at some point in the future, but since most of the functionality is covered by our Raycast extension (and / or community made FlowLauncher / Alfred alternatives) it’s not a high priority for us at the moment. Since my last comment above, we’ve also added support for the Windows system tray.

We (and our recently community members ) have been continually updating our Raycast extension with anticipation that Windows / Mobile support is coming very soon. Is there anything specifically you’d like to see supported with a universal quick add / capture? Specific use cases really help us understand how we can build Supernotes better for you.

There hasn’t been much additional input since Tobias question, so i’ll add some quick thoughts of my own.

I think there should definitely be an own universal capture, but if so i don’t think it should be just the capture tool itself. Other apps that have a similar Spotlight-like capture menu does just that, but i’d say you should go one step further.

One of the best options out there is Things 3, and where they are separate from others is that they have their own quick capture but with autofill; Adding To-Dos From Anywhere On Your Mac Through Quick Entry - Things Support

By installing the Things 3 Helper program, it gets around the sandboxing issues that exists and allow the quick capture from grabbing the link or file you’re browsing or have selected.

I know there’s been thoughts about adding a web extension/clipper but that you want to do it thoughtfully with the intention of capturing not just quickly but smartly. I think having a browser extension with a quick capture helper and that being supported by the desktop apps would be huge. So instead of just highlighting it and adding it to a possibly endlessly growing list of clippings, by grabbing it with quick capture you can add notes, tags, connect it to collections etc.

Sort of a combination between Things 3 and Sublime.

For my use case it would be a lot of selecting of texts from blogs and articles that i come across on a daily basis, and i would like better ways to curate and connect these notes and selected texts, and i think that’s where Supernotes can be very meaningful to me.
Right now what happens instead is that a lot of those things end up as just small little texts and just links in my Obsidian daily notes, but daily notes isn’t where these sorts of things should live and i’d not want to reserve things these to just fleeting notes either as the Supernotes card approach seems like a better one instead.

I just downloaded the beta of raycast for windows. Currently I am not able to install the supernotes extension .. but at least the beta is here. I’m curios to play around with raycast in general.

There’s a waitlist for raycast on windows: Raycast for Windows
