Quite often I’ll say, create a card for a seminar I’m going to, and then write lots of child cards. I’d like the child cards to have all the tags of the parent card, so I’d find it useful if I could have a short cut to add all the tags of the parent card as a filter (which would then add the tags to all the children I write.)
If you add a card under a parent, I guess it would be useful to autotag it with the parent-tag. Like in Capacities or probably other note taking apps, thats pretty useful. Or you could make it an option in the settings to turn that feature on/off.
Hi @torben777,
So you can quickly tap on the parent cover’s tags to enable the ones you want as a filter, any new card you write will inherit those tags.
You can also create a collection out of frequently used parent cards. Collections have the added benefit that you can enable “Match new cards to filters”, which will attempt to add as many of the filter attributes as possible:
Is this sufficient or would you still like a dedicated way for cards authored within a parent to auto-add parent tags?
I would advise against such a feature. This will make tags mimic the hierarchy that’s in place by parent-child relations. The whole point of tags is to add another dimension to structure your cards.
Thanks Tobias,
that helps and is kind of what I was looking for.
