Maybe I’m missing something, but it seems I cannot secure my account with additional factors besides a password. Using MFA is table stakes in 2024, right? And given the sensitive nature of our notes, extra protection is very welcome. Is this a current feature or one that’s on the roadmap?
Hi @mjax, thanks for the suggestion!
Multi-factor authentication (MFA) isn’t a feature yet, but we’d be happy to add that in the future. We’ve got some plans to improve our onboarding / authentication experience soon and MFA would work well with alongside those improvements.
If anyone else would like MFA please like Marc’s post above, so we can gauge interest
I’m definitely interested. I try to use 1password for all my authentication, since I prefer it over text/email. But I know not everyone has figure out how to use anauthenticator app (though Google is makign it easier).
I know there’s sometimes an added cost, but I strongly recommend offering it to paid and unpaid people. One site I used blocked it behind the paid option, and I hate the idea that added security has to come with a cost.
If you guys ever want to do business with the US government, then maybe take heed of the NIST guidelines (some of which are requirements and knockout criteria) that are also used by European companies. I am currently employed in the Netherlands, and our organization requires the use of MFA (as do most organizations in the Netherlands) for all applications. For now, I am using SuperNotes on a personal basis, but in its current state, it could not be adopted by the majority of Dutch organizations.
@tlbignerd yep, it’s unlikely we’d implement SMS 2FA anyway, as it is notoriously insecure.
@mjax we haven’t spent much effort targeting businesses and orgs up to this point, as we want to ensure the individual experience is rock-solid before we try to branch out. However we have some plans for that, and I agree it would definitely be a good idea to follow NIST or other guidelines.
Sounds good to me. I’d love the option to add it.
MFA is definitely very much needed. I just started using Suupernotes and am loving it so far; however, it is very odd that MFA is not an option and it is almost 2025.
