Android / iOS widgets

I hope Android and iOS apps have widgets so I can see one note or a note and its children in home screen!

I couldn’t find any related thread, I’m sorry if this’s duplicated!

That would be very cool, we will see what we can do as part of our continued efforts to get the mobile apps ready for public release! :tada:

I’d love to have:

  1. Desktop widgets
    2 Lockscreen widgets
  2. Shortcuts actions
That would help integrate Supernotes into my daily workflow.

Hi @shryn, welcome to the Community. Could you go into a bit more detail as to what kind of widgets and shortcuts you would be looking for? This will help us strategize on how to best build such features in the future.

I have several iOS Shortcuts. If you need one, drop me a message

Hi Isaiur I would be interested in any Shortcuts for Supernotes you have. Thanks.

Hi Connor. I think it would be nice to have widgets that show the current day’s notes or a bar of icons that perform various functions such as: new note, search, go to date, etc. As for the iPhone lockscreen: a simple open Supernotes or search would be nice. Cheers.

A lockscreen widget on iOS for opening the app to quickly add a new card would be fantastic.

I would love a set of widgets similar to what you get with other note taking apps.

(A “Quick Note” Widget, a Widget Open to a Particular Card, Outline/Contents Page, a “Filter Interface: Show By Tag/Color/Parent/Search”)

  • For my personal use I would most enjoy having a small/medium/large widget open to a particular card: The HUB CARD for my Card System. A small one would of course be essentially no more than a Home Screen Button to “Automatically open Supernotes to this Card”. In a large card, I would love to be able to quickly scroll through the card to select a linked card.

  • But probably a more generally useful implementation would be a “Filtering Widget”. I imagine it set up primarily as a Search interface, with smaller buttons below for Tags, Colors, and Parents, that expand to show your selections. (Just like you have in the + interface). And probably the most useful version of this would be programmable in Preferences, where you can select what filtering options to show in the widget. But for quickly implementing a very useful widget, I’m imagining that a simple “Supernotes Search Widget” would allow you to get a version 1 out quickly.

(For clarity, this Filter Widget would just be the interface for the Search/Filter, which would open the list of pre-sorted cards in the Supernotes App.)

  • Also “For Fun” : It would be neat to have a widget that opens to a random card in a Tag Set (or other filtered set). In other words, it would work like an “Oracle Card Deck” or “Brainstorming Card Deck”. I can see two ways to implement this:
→ Simplest: “Open To A Random Card in Supernotes App”
→ More Ambitious: “Show a Random Card in the Widget without opening Supernotes” with options to Browse Sequentially < > or get a Random Card.

(This is essentially how I’m using Supernotes right now – To set up a style of “Oracle Card Deck” with a matrix of networked archetypes. A long-time user of Bear, I originally discovered Supernotes by accident while looking for alternative Second Brain apps. Supernotes’ emphasis on “Networked Cards” inspired the realization that my “Card Deck Project” is a perfect application for Supernotes!
