Splitting Cards

I got this idea from Kinopio, which allows for splitting cards through line breaks.

I think this could be implemented in Supernote as well. Here are some use cases:

  1. Breaking down a long-form piece. When I copy a long-form piece, like an article, I like to separate headings into cards. Currently, I do this manually, which involves a lot of copying and pasting. It would be nice if there were a splitting command that allowed me to split headings into child cards.

  2. Splitting writings. For example, I write a few paragraphs within a card, and later I might have an idea to separate a paragraph into a new heading (which would mean creating a new card). Right now, I have to cut and paste that paragraph to a new card, so a splitting command would make this process much smoother.

Hi @warish, welcome to the Supernotes Community!

Technically we already have this using “Move”, just select text and then press /. to quick append that content to an existing card or write a new title to author a new card. We found it to be faster than using line breaks as you can title cards quicker this way.

Also see Excising / Split / Absorb cards for more about the opposite – absorbing cards, which we haven’t added yet.

Thanks for your reply! Good to know. (Been using Supernote for a week or so; never knew it could do that!)
