Supernotes 2.1.0

Supernotes 2.1 has been released!

Thank you for your feedback here on the forum, this major release greatly improves our mobile apps as well as adding the highly requested date improvements. As always if you’ve reported a bug / made a feature suggestion here on the forum, you are credited in our release notes below. We have almost completed the transition to fully support offline card editing and creation and we are excited to share this with you soon.

Better Mobile Apps for Everyone

Supernotes for iOS and Android is now free for everyone in early access. We’ve made some big changes. There’s a new long-press to create a card, larger tappable elements as well as swipeable menus, gestures and notifications. Performance is a lot better across iOS and Android. If you haven’t tried the mobile app yet, click here to install for iOS and here for Android.

Natural language dates

We’ve added natural language date support across the whole platform. Jump to any date from anywhere on the platform with the new ‘Jump to Date’ command (cmd / ctrl + d). Type in ‘Today’, ‘Next Tues’, ‘12th Sep’ – and it will automatically recognise which date you are meaning. Cards you create that contain a date within the title will automatically assign a ‘Targeted Date’ to that card. Our Calendar menu now also includes an input so you can jump to any date easily from that menu.

Performance and Infrastructure Improvements

We are still hard at work on a Supernotes release that will enable full-featured offline mode in Supernotes. As part of this release, we have changed a bunch of things under-the-hood to start that transition process. As a happy coincidence, this should generally make Supernotes a bit faster for you!

  1. I love the new Command Prompt—it’s a lovely design, and the highlighted row is much clearer now!
  2. #405 seems fixed for child cards, but not for the parent card. Is that intended?
  3. #1053 doesn’t seem fixed (i.e. the behaviour seems identical to before):

Hi @JamesT,

Good to hear you’re enjoying the new Command Prompt.

#405 is fixed for child childs but not for parent cards at the moment, as we are in the middle of major overhaul of how parent cards function (including being able to edit them inline) – this will be released in the next major update.

And our mistake re. #1053, we didn’t end up including the fix in this update. It will be added in the next version! I’ve re-opened the issue.

Thanks for the feedback, please keep it coming, especially with the mobile apps

On the macOS client, the first time you click the + button on a card (or you activate its “Add menu” with /) the whole UI gets bumped violently to the left.

I think it’s because the left menubar gets temporarily collapsed.

Hi @JamesT,

Thanks for the feedback. Could you possibly send us a screen recording of this? It will help us to debug the issue.

Thank you, @tobias and @connor for this update! The natural language date parsing is the feature I didn’t dare to ask for, and now I got it anyway. Love it.

Hey there!

Sadly the link for the android app doesn’t work for me. It shortly flashes the correct view (I think) but quickly shows the following screen:

Edit:

I got the flashing screen:

That’s my phone:

Hi @Silvan,

Unfortunately we do not support Android 9. Only Android 10 and above, I wrote this post in another discussion the other day:
